It’s 1949 Los Angeles, and hoodlum Mickey Cohen has moved in, with the aim of controlling all criminal action in the city. He has purchased nearby judges and police, and nobody will cross him or affirm against him. Everybody aside from Sergeant John O’Mara, a previous World War II officer, whose objective is to settle with his family in a quiet Los Angeles. Police Chief William Parker chooses to shape an exceptional unit whose mission is to bring down Cohen, and picks O’Mara to lead the unit. O’Mara picks 4 cops and asks another cop and vet, Jerry Wooters to go along with him however Wooters isn’t intrigued. However, when he witnesses the murder of a young man by Cohen’s kin, he goes along with them, and they choose to dismantle Cohen’s association. Cohen thinks about whether an opponent is following him, however in the long run he understands it’s the cops
